Like pompoms in your garden, the puffy blooms of the Mimosa make it one of the most beautiful winter-flowering shrubs. But there’s more to it than meets the eye – some plants close their leaves when touched and some raise their leaves in the day, only lowering them at night. Mimosas are rare, ‘rapid moving’ plants and provided scientists with the first evidence of biological clocks.
The yellow blossoms grow in abundance on the stem and flowers are renowned for their scent. They work wonderfully in the sitting room, especially if you’re entertaining.
